How to recognize the difference between a logo design and a corporate
A logo design is the physical representation of the quality and standard of the business. It lends a face to the business and allows for an instant recognition by the customer of what to expect from a product or service. It can be a simple image such as a cup and saucer of a particular color and style, or an abstract image using one or a variety of shapes. Without words it represents the company, but it may not serve as a corporate identity for the company.
Companies often have more than one logo design. They will be similar in color and style but can be used for a variety of functions and be used independently of one another. Corporate identity logos give an idea about the company. It usually includes the colors of the company logo, the company name, sometimes the logo itself is included and possibly a tagline.
The corporate identity logo should be designed similar to the company logo that is used in advertisement. It should be a crisp form of the logo with additional elements that make it of use in business matters exclusive of advertisement. If the business advertisement logo is a simple image, the corporate identity logo can include the name of the company and/or a tagline as an identifier.
As with an advertisement logo, the corporate identity logo should be usable on various forms of print, media and internet canvases. It should be as clear and legible in black and white as it is in color, and should not lose resolution when viewed in various computer programs. The additional elements should be evaluated and tested before the design is finalized to ensure the quality of the design. The corporate logo design should improve upon the basic logo design of the company.
